Big Country Ticket Was a Blast

Performing on the same stage as the likes of Tommy GillhamJessie FarrelGord Bambford and Arron Pritchett was just a blast for the up and coming singing sensation. The audience was in the mood for good music and they were not disappointed. Talk about the star treatment too. The producers were great and the sound system was amazing. Kira wowed the audience with a couple of her loveliest ballads - a very traditional one called “When Love Was Everything” and a heartfelt Country version of a previously released ballad called “I’ll be”.

Kira’s New Team

Kira is pleased to announce she is collaborating with the wonderful folks at Homestead Records and Macarmill Productions. During the last few weeks some recordings were done and plans are in discussion. The first big news to come out of that powerful match up is that the gig with Aaron Pritchett is a go. Kira is opening the show at the Sep 11 Big Country Ticket in Owen Sound  - where her second single will be debuted - look for a link to that on the site sometime around that date.

During a blustery day in July at the Holstein Rodeo, Kira took to the stage with veteran country recording artist Tommy Gillham for a duet on "Sometimes You Win" from his current album. The headliners that night were The Road Hammers so guess who got a really good seat for the show.

Kira Bats 1000 and Shoots for the Stars

In
between the show season and community dates like CHEO, Canada Day,
the Breast Cancer BBQ Fun Walk with Alex and other events. Kira entered a few contests in the area. It gave her an opportunity to try a variety of music styles, meet some wonderful people and get a lot of great tips and inspiration. She didn’t win them all but did enjoy each experience and would not change a thing.

Recording With the Best

Jason Barry in his St Clemens studio.

The song, Come Around – co- written by Willie Mack and Kyler England, captures a young at heart feeling that plays wonderfully to Kiras’s youthful voice.

With guitar work from
Paul Chapman and infused with a tapestry of instruments, vocals and engineering by CCMA award winning producer and musician Jason Barry, (Barrytone Studios) the song just comes alive. The level of musicianship and production rivals the best in the business and all from right here in Canada.

Kira Wins Top Spot

Kira’s voice has wonderful emotion and tone for such a young performer. She loves soulful ballads and older classics but can belt out the latest tunes with amazing vocal agility which is just what she did at this year’s Ontario Open Country Singing Contest.

Kira performed an amazing rendition of Sugarland’s “Stay” and then brought the roof down with Martina MacBrides “When God Fearing Women Get The Blues”.

The judges were unanimous. First place in the open category and the 2008 Rising Star Award - a new addition to this years show.

Kira is in good company, previous winners include Amanda Wilkinson and Cathy Korpi.
